perfectly brown

I'm absolutely delighted to have found a purse of this particular rich brown colour. I've been passively hunting for something like this for a while now. The fact that this vintage purse is not made of genuine leather would have normally bothered me, but surprisingly, it did not this time. I love the simple design and the strap has the perfect length (shorter than the usual sling bag).

Now the question is: should I keep it or sell it to someone else? Truth is that I don't need another handbag. Would someone be interested to have it? Please let me know.

converse

Once upon a time, I was obsessed with my Converse sneakers (before everyone, from 7 to 77 years old, started wearing them). I've gone through 4 pairs. Each of them were worn until their last thread. It's a good thing that I've grown out of it. Now, I'm obsessed over finding the perfect black leather high-heel kind of mid-length biker boots.

the fall of the scarves

Beside my beloved fox scarf, I have a small collection of vintage scarves with different colours and patterns. They are like pieces of art to me. My favorite one has to be the red unicorn surrounded by cute little animals. I'm definitely planning to put this silk scarf behind glass, in a wooden frame, and use it as an ornament.

The following images are a consequence of me being bored and feeling the need to do something creative. Therefore, I decided to capture my scarves in an artistic way, by letting them fall freely from the air. I hope you like this mini photo series. Feel free to tell me which scarf you like most!

beginning of fall

Even though there's still one month left until autumn, for me, summer ends when school begins.
Fall is my favorite season, but today nostalgia is creeping on me.
I'll let these photos of my bedroom convey my mood.

my wardrobe staple for fall

Beside BLING-ing up the appearance of this blog with some minor changes, I spent yesterday afternoon transforming an old pair of high-waisted jeans into shorts. I'm still a beginner when it comes to sewing, but the shorts turns out great! I even took the time to hem them as I judged that the fabric and the faded black colour feels already enough beat up. Fraying them would be unnecessary.

It's unbelievable that since all this time, a black pair of beat up high-waisted denim shorts was EXACTLY the missing link in my wardrobe... I've collected many cool vintage tops over the years that I've never worn before. I simply couldn't come up with a satisfactory outfit result. But now, with these shorts on, and black tights (another staple for fall), everything seems to fit magically altogether. Bliss.

Here's a look on my first DIY project:

hello sunshine

Just got these vibrant yellow items to brighten up my mornings.

And here are some facts about my breakfast rituals:

1. I like to flood and drown my poor cereals in milk before swallowing them into oblivion. Therefore, this Pyrex bowl has the perfect shape and depth for my morning murderous ritual.
2. When preparing fresh orange juice with this basic vintage Gemco juice presser,
my arms get in shape with all the pressing and turning.
3. I enjoy watching every drop of orange juice pressed into the bottom
glass part of the juicer. So much more fun than the raindrops falling against my window.

;-)

Have a nice week-end everyone!

on drawing

I thought I'd share the very few portraits I did in my spare time many, many years ago. The illustrations are chronologically ordered from the oldest to the most recent and they are based on photos found in Vogue USA or Harper's Bazaar magazines.

There's not much I can say about my illustrations beside the fact that I would not considered them like a form of art. I see myself more like a "printer"—very mechanical and zero creativeness: adding different levels of gray and black on a blank paper in order to form an already existing image, but not at the speed of a laser printer though, not even an inkjet one... My productivity's rate is more likely a closer match to those of the dinosaures' era low resolution dot matrix printers! In all seriousness, it takes me FOREVER to finish a portrait. Sadly, maybe for this reason, I haven't done much of drawing for the last three years.

saturday at the museum

This last Saturday was spent at the museum for the fashion exhibition of Jean-Paul Gaultier's lifetime collection. Being able to look so closely to his main work, I was flabbergasted by all the beautiful details and craftsmanship. I will certainly share with you some pictures I took later this week!

I own many bags, but this vintage leather shoulder bag has to be one of the most comfortable and convenient.

A simple outfit to wander around the bustling city. I'm wearing an oversize vintage breton shirt tucked in a high-waisted shorts. Otherwise, the bagginess of the shirt could easily run out of control!

After the exhibition, I was putting on my newly bought nail polish while drinking and chatting at a friend's place. We also cooked some barbecue veal steaks for dinner. It was soooooo delicious!

some online purchases

I never buy clothes online. Charity shop is, by far, my preferred source for clothing. On the other hand, I like to order gadgets that will make my life more enjoyable, especially life on the run, commuting from one place to another. This is what I've purchased lately via online stores:

***

Nomadic Wise-Walker mini backpack (a lot of compartments for my stuff, but not as comfortable as I thought, and don't like the shape of it when the bag is at its fullest)

Klean Kanteen stainless water bottle (since it's high-quality steel, it feels a little bit bulky and heavy in a purse or a bag)

Built lunch bag (because the fabric is kind of expendable, I can put lots of stuff in it and the zipper can still be fully closed)
Contigo leak-free travel coffee mug (love the fact I don't have to worry about spilling my coffee and it keeps it warm for many hours)

Nomadic pencil case: can carry a lot of pens, but if I knew that the pencil case tends to fall on the front side when full, I wouldn't have bought it.

rose pastel

Although this white vintage top is large for my small frame, I can't bear the idea to depart from it since it's one of the too few items I own that oozes romanticism. I really love pink, especially all the derivatives of dusty pink, but unfortunately, it's not something that really match my skin tone or my hair colour. No kidding, sometime I wish I was blonde. Just to be able to wear more pastel colours.

at the farm

This past week-end was a lot of fun. I basically spent Saturday and Sunday playing volleyball and frisbee under the sun.

One of my recent favorite finds. The details are gorgeous! I can already tell that this scarf will get a lot of wear this coming Fall!

black

Wearing a black jersey dress by Only. It's as comfy as wearing a pyjama, no wonder why I tend to wear it whenever I want something simple.

violet

Wearing black is something that doesn't require any effort from me. Every time that I want to show my true self to the world, dark coloured clothes are what I'd naturally go for. Ironically, when it comes to my inner world (for example, my bedroom), I would prefer white, light or pastel colours, and floral prints.

clothes to week-end

I'll be spending the week-end out of town, eating, playing and relaxing. Some clothes I'll be bringing with me. I don't think that purses are really necessary when we're in the countryside, but put them in anyway for photography sake. Have a nice week-end! :-)
